One of the most fascinating artists to re-enter the dance music spotlight in 2016 is Crookers. Now a solo producer/DJ, Francesco ‘Phra’ Barbaglia’s totally surprising and sometimes bonkers music has caught everybody’s attention, from international radio heads, to DJs, to the good folks at the Defected Croatia festival, for whom his set was one of the highlights. Collaboration has been crucial to Phra’s signature sound, whether that be Kid Cudi on his 'Day ‘n’ Nite' remix in 2008 that reached #2 in the UK charts, or the soulful diva vocals of Kym Mazelle in 2016 for 'A Place In My Heart'. Crookers’ approach is always light-hearted and wildly creative, resulting in musical projects that never fail to be exciting.
Crookers: "I'm pretty new to working with Defected, it's not even been a year since my first record with them, but that said, since the beginning I had the feeling that it's a label made by people who care about music quality. That is exactly what I love about working with them. I feel it's an easy and fun collaboration, they bring out the best in me as a producer and DJ, so thank you for what you guys do everyday!"
