The Role:

Full-time, based in London.

Defected produces industry-leading film content about the label’s activities and dance music culture. The role focuses on producing video content that engages the existing Defected community, whilst also appealing to a wider audience for music.



Key Role Objectives: 

  • Enhance the Defected brand by recording and delivering high quality film content which effectively showcases the music, artists, events and dance culture with a strong brand presence 
  • To maintain and project a cohesive brand identity for Defected, its artists and events 
  • Produce stand-out content to maximise potential audience and increase potential for repeat viewing and channel  subscriptions (including YouTube and Facebook)
  • To create eye-catching content to drive promotion and marketing for brands, artists, albums and events
    Produce a variety of film or moving image marketing assets including TV ads

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Write and produce creative film treatments for all Defected film content; from event previews and aftermovies to music videos
  • Direct, film and edit all film content - ensure prompt delivery according to deadlines set
  • Create relevant audio soundbeds and any necessary graphics required for film content
  • Attend and film events in the UK and internationally as required
  • Pre-production with artists and venues; artist liaison and location booking where necessary 
  • Ensure film content is fully approved by management and artists prior to release
  • Manage and maintain all in-house equipment and storage / filing of film content
  • Manage delivery of films to TV stations where appropriate
  • Oversee promotion of films online via blogs and social networks alongside Head of Marketing and Content Manager

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Formal qualification in film production / editing
  • Experience in filming events (ideally in the music industry or similar) 
  • Experience in using music editing and graphics software
  • Understanding of the function of film promotion online – working knowledge of social networks
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about dance music and current media opportunities

  • Commercially astute & forward thinking
  • Excellent all round communication skills
  • Collaborative, team player
