You might be wondering lately just what all this talk of House Odyssey is all about...
Remember when you first fell in love with the beat? Maybe it was the moment you first dropped the needle on that record or even just held it in your hands? Maybe it was that moment it all suddenly made sense in the middle of a dancefloor seduced by the groove somewhere, anywhere in the world? It was that point when you realised you were hooked and there was no turning back.
It’s happened to us all as our love of house music began. Each and every one of us has our own story to tell and it’s been a never-ending journey through the music and the hundreds of nights out that we’ve loved ever since… it’s our very own personal house odyssey.
For many this journey will have involved Ibiza, as scene of the most epic clubland adventures, it’s the place we all long to return to and there’s a special reason why we keep coming back every year. For some it will be the story of records discovered that are deeply personal to them, to others it’s the chance to dance all day as well as all night. Perhaps it’s all of these things stitched together that’s what made the fabric of house itself.
Since the end of the last Ibiza season, through all the album and singles releases as well as the parties we have staged, we have been striving more than ever to present the stories of an ever more diverse range of house music artists in just this spirit; from some of the very pioneers such as Kevin Saunderson and Inner City, MK or MURK to some of the new heroes of the underground; exciting producers like Noir, Mowgli, Treasure Fingers or Franky Rizardo alongside those artists who have come to be associated with Defected for many years. As we arrive at the beginning of this year’s Ibiza Season the idea of A House Odyssey serves as our inspiration more powerfully than ever.
With less than a month to go to the finest Opening Weekend yet that combines the Grand Finale of the IMS (International Music Summit) with the most important opening parties at Pacha, Space, Ushuaia and beyond, Defected is looking forward to starting its tenth summer in Ibiza with what is set not only to be its best ever season on the island but a truly epic house odyssey in itself.
Over an extended 19 weeks of parties we shall curate an unprecedented diversity of world-class performers featuring some 30 DJs and artists and over 3500 people every week filling Pacha to capacity will share a million different experiences; as clubbers, performers, venue owners, workers, promoters or DJ gather each with their own story to tell.
2012 A House Odyssey is our invitation to all those with a true love of house music and the White Isle to join with us as the epic story of house music continues to unfold in the place we can call home – Defected In The House Ibiza 2012.
