Spring 2015 will see the release of the documentary ‘808’ about the iconic TR-808 drum machine made by Japanese electronics manufacturer Roland.

Released in 1980 the 808 was a focal point of electro and hip-hop music (and later techno) with its loud kick drum and snappy snares, while earlier this year Mr Beatnick announced the return of the 808 with Roland’s new AIRA series.

The documentary features many artists across a spectrum of genres from dance music legends Richie Hawtin and Todd Terry to hip hop artists like Bambaataa and Rick Rubin. The ‘808’ trailer also features the more mainstream pop and EDM stars like Pharrell, Diplo and David Guetta. The TR-808 had a huge influence on the way music was made and it is no surprise so many talents of the music industry are willing to sing its praises.
