Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip has launched a side-project called About Group with John Coxon of space rockers Spiritualized.
The band will be an experimental affair, with the onus on improvisation, while sessions have already begun at London's Abbey Road studio.
“The idea was that no one band member would know the songs well enough to have specific parts, or be prevented from playing something like the first ideas that came into their head,” says Taylor.
Also in the group are jazz pianist Pat Thomas and Charles Hayward of 80s post-punk band This Heat.
A single will drop on March 14.
