German electronic artist Apparat – real name Sascha Ring – is due to release a new album, his seventh, next month.

Krieg und Frieden is, in Apparat’s own words, “a bit of a weird record with not many beats and lots of drones.”  The producer developed the record after working on a theatre adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s famous novel War And Peace for a local arts festival in German city Recklinghausen, his soundtrack was recorded with a 30-piece ensemble including live Apparat collaborators Philipp Timm and Christoph Hartmann but never intended for full release.  However, Apparat decided to work on the material after War And Peace’s final performance and saw the potential for an artist album.

Krieg und Frieden will be released on Mute Records on February 15, the same label Apparat’s last album, The Devil’s Walk, arrived via in 2011.
