One of electronic music’s most revered contemporary artists, Archie Hamilton’s remarkable rise through the ranks of underground house and techno has earnt him a reputation as one of Europe’s originators of the minimal sound. Now he debuts on Defected Records with ‘Let The Light In’, moving away from his trademark stripped-back sound to explore classic vocal house influences.
A full circle moment for Archie, whose humble industry beginnings started as an intern at Defected close to two decades ago, his first release on the London label demonstrates a rich knowledge of the genre. Featuring Manchester vocalist HQA, the EP also features the Garage Dub teased during Archie’s set at Paradise Miami during Music Week.
“I am so excited about this record for so many reasons! I have always been a huge fan of 90s US house, and that era was a huge inspiration for this. The writing process was also really fun, and I was super happy with the outcome; HQA delivered a killer vocal! I wanted to make a modern classic that I hope will stand the test of time. It was also a nice full-circle moment, releasing a record on the label where I started my journey as an intern.” – Archie Hamilton
Archie Hamilton featuring HQA ‘Let The Light In’ will be released via Defected on 21st April, pre-order/pre-save: defected.lnk.to/DFTD673D
