Goth-house Canadians Art Department – Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White – have been confirmed to mix the BPM festival’s first official album, due out late January.
BPM001 includes a wide sweep of house gems from the likes of Oskar Offerman (minimal) to Deetron (in punchy, techno-edged mood) via Ripperton (rugged synths), Luca Bacchetti (atmospheric funk) and Denis Kurtel (thoroughly eclectic), not to mention Eric Volta and Louie Fresco – both regulars on Art Department’s No 19 label. BPM festival favourites Glasgow and White also include their own cut, Sun Comes Up.
BPM001 is released on No 19 Music on January 27, 2014, a couple of weeks after the conclusion of the latest BPM Festival in Mexico’s Playa Del Carmen, January 3-12. Moving forwards, revellers can expect two BPM releases per year.
