Avicii has had his laptop stolen, containing eight unfinished tracks.

The Swedish producer took to Twitter to let fans know of his displeasure over the theft of the Mac and a harddrive, which is said to have gone missing from a hotel.

Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, told fans: “My computer was stolen along with project files to 8 brand new tracks ive been playin. And no backup.

“I know the guy who did it because of cameras and stuff but he still wont confess and give back what he took. This is so fn annoying.” It is thought, however, that he still has the MP3s of the tracks, though the files within the tracks will be lost unless the laptop is returned.

It's the latest high profile, dance music-based theft.

Just before Christmas, Eats Everything, aka producer and DJ Dan Pearce, had a bag containing his headphones and 140GB of music stolen after appearing at the DJ Mag Best of British awards at Cable in London.

In effusive style, he tweeted: “Some fucking cunt is a fucking asshole and stole my headphones and all my music from the DJ booth.... Fucking wanker. Basically I am not bothered about the headphones or the USB sticks at all, it's just the music being in the hands of some oik basically,” he told Mixmag.

“I have it all backed up, everything is replaceable but it meant coming home last night and loading everything onto a hard drive which took two hours then I had to be up at 8am to fly to Geneva and didn't get it backed up in time so now have hardly any music for a tour of Switzerland.”

But a few days later, the headphones and memory sticks were returned in a jiffy bag to DJ Magazine's office with a note reading: “It was an accident, sorry! Merry Christmas.”
