Ahead of the release of Bargrooves Deluxe 2013, mixer and compiler Andy Daniell takes a more detailed look at some of his personal favourites from the compilation.

Larse – Those Of You
Larse has had an incredible year. Starting with the huge So Long, his incredible remix of Feed Me & Crystal Fighters and of course his wonderful remix of Candi Staton – Hallelujah Anyway. For this compilation I wanted to pick a record that I adore but I think might have been slightly overlooked. Those of You has the most warm groove, awesome little drops, great little vocal drops and stunning arrangement. It’s such a special record that I just had to use.

Lee Foss & MK  - Electricity
Those Hot Creations are on a roll at the moment. Practically ever record on the label is essential and for this one co label owner Lee Foss calls on house legend MK as co-producer and newcomer Anabel Englund for vocals. The result is a stunning vocal on a sparce backing that just lets the vocal breathe in an incredible way. I think this one could be a real grower over the coming months.

Joi Cardwell, Jon Da Silva & Maceo Plex – Love Somebody
Maceo Plex has become a house music powerhouse of the last year or so with consistently weighty releases. This is no different. This record covers the Jones Girls – You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else with legend Joi Cardwell providing the new vocals. Rich analogue synths & bass give a lush backing and makes the whole record essential.

Nick Curly – Underground (Dennis Ferrer Remix)
Nick Curly put out his incredible album Between The Lines early this year and in its original form this was already a stand out record, but with Dennis Ferrer on board for an incredibly rare remix he takes it to another level. Rolling old school bass, epic piano and a breakdown that is just perfection. Dancefloor dynamite.

Trickski – Wilderness (Genius Of Time Remix)
Slight curveball record for this compilation but it’s a record of such quality I couldn’t leave it off. Very slow & pretty deep but the soundscapes in the breakdown are so emotive and uplifting that I close my eyes and imagine the sun rising in the desert or something like that so I’m really glad I could get this record on this compilation.

Moonwalk – Maya
Big fans on Moonwalk. They also had an incredible record on Mexa record that I’d heard Solomun playing over the summer, but this was the one for me. Big bass, warm pads & a vocal that goes “on and on” Love this record.

Adam Berecki – Nobody
Bit of a more old school sounding record this, but anything on Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity imprint is going to be quality. Great piano stabs, warm bass & a superb vocal hook make this an essential track for me.

Loaded Dice – Warm
A cheeky alias from the man like Eats Everything. This track gives a great nod to old school piano house, but up to date. A clever vocal loop and his trademark bass sonics kept this one in the box for me all summer so I had to break it out for this compilation.

Stefano Ritteri – Rules Of Control
Stefano Ritteri is the man previous known as Solo. For his latest release with Defected he takes a great vocal hook with a nod to classic house and straps a big fuck-off bassline to it. Can’t go wrong with that, always destroys the floor.

Robosonic – The Edge
Robosonic are a duo on my radar as ones to watch. They’ve been really consistent with the quality of their releases. They have this incredibly warm sound & awesome nods to classic hiphop/Soul/funk records but always incredibly tastefully done. The Edge is the perfect example of this.
