John Digweed’s seemingly indefatigable Bedrock imprint launches mix compilation series Collaborations later this month with a first CD helmed by The Audible Suspects – a long-conceived project between friends Oliver Lieb and Jimmy Van M.
Collaborations aims to bottle the atmosphere of a deep, underground club night. Digweed himself describes it as “cool electronic house meets spacious techno”, slick tech-house cuts by BPitch Control affiliate Thomas Muller and Van M himself, leading off into a punchier techno direction via Sweden’s Joel Mull and Russia’s Digital Mess, whilst also reflecting the experimental shifts of SF FM and Lanny May. There is further room for Oliver Lieb’s own material, including Epsilon Eridani and Helios.
The Audible Suspects came to pass when American Van M brought Lieb to the States for his first tour there; their meeting spiralled into talk of collaboration, which has finally now been realised as Collaborations. The pair plans to mix “commercial success” with “trippy development”.
Collaborations is released by Bedrock on February 27.
