Buzzin’ Fly’s Ben Watt is to release his first solo album in over 30 years this April.

Watt is perhaps best known for his exploits with underground house label Buzzin’ Fly, his DJing (his Lazy Dog nights alongside Jay Hannah a particular highlight) and, before that, his time with Everything But The Girl (alongside Tracey Thorn, his partner).  Last March he announced that Buzzin’ Fly would no longer release new material, concentrating on comprehensive anthologies instead. He also confirmed plans to pursue non-fiction writing, broadcasting, a separate label for Thorn (Strange Feeling), and his own long-planned solo music project.

Here that project now is.  Produced alongside deep dance maestro Ewan Pearson and former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Hendra mixes folk-rock vibes with electronic edge – Watt specifically calls it “languid folk, distorted rock and fizzing electronics.”

Track The Levels is notable for featuring Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour on slide guitar and backing vocals.  Hendra is released via Watt’s new label Unmade Road on April 14.
