Oh no! It’s here! The time of the summer where everyone is walking round saying “this is my last time at (insert favourite beach/restaurant/club night). It’s a horrid feeling as suddenly time is running out and there is still so much to do! And even worse news than that…this is my LAST BLOG! So the pictures here aren't really about this blog in particular...just some of my favourite shots with some of my favourite people throughout the season.
It’s a very special vibe on the island in September though, which was even more special on Monday when rain hit! Every holiday-makers nightmare but so much fun for anyone who is here longer term. I woke up in the morning (afternoon) to an unusually dark room and looked outside to thick grey sky…BRILLIANT! A sudden feeling of cosiness came over me as I reached for my favourite hoodie that I haven’t worn since May. Winter clothes are a novelty and you also don’t feel bad sitting inside watching a DVD wasting the sun outside. The day went by and it was time to start getting ready for DC10...the texts started coming in as the rain got heavier…“Hey Bex, sorry…really not fancying going out in this weather” LOSERS! What were they talking about?! We go out when it’s raining all the time in London! Anyway, enough people were still going and I definitely was!
I hadn’t really noticed the car I have been driving seems to have worn down tyres and the wrong wiper blades but I do now! Approaching DC10, the car park attendants were standing there with... beach umbrellas?! They’re not waterproof! I went through the entrance of the car park closest to the front door...and get ushered straight through to the exit…it’s full!!! I had to park in the car park 5 minutes walk away. As I contemplated how I was going to make it to the entrance without making my very flimsy silky dress see-through I spot some car park attendants with REAL umbrellas! Lucky me manage to get escorted straight to the entrance…AND I WAS IN! Perfect party vibes inside as everyone was forced to stay undercover…another great day and I even enjoyed sliding over the mud rink in the car on the way out!
Of course the rain isn’t really helping my tan develop as much as possible before the BIGGEST night of the summer…The Defected In The House Closing Party!! I have had butterflies for the last few days and I can barely sleep for thinking about it! For the Defected crew it isn’t even just about the Saturday night…it’s the whole weekend! I can’t wait to see an amazing selection of my old friends from the London office who will be arriving Friday to help me cause some debauchery in the Defected villa!
We will be hitting Pure Pacha and Wonderland on the Friday then getting a few hours sleep before I make my way down to Pacha and Mambo on Saturday morning to make sure everything is as perfect as it can be for the night! We will be having confetti and fireworks this Saturday which makes things extra exciting! I’m really looking forward to the Mambo pre-party, as I know they have a few tricks up their sleeves also. Then, once I’m done it’s back to the villa to entertain and get everyone in the party mood…this involves alcohol, pool fun and water bomb fights. Simon Dunmore will no doubt get some tunes on and who better to choose them! I’ll no doubt be juggling last minute tan top ups and zillions of emails of people begging for guestlist ( I’ve already had loads, it’s going to be SUPER busy).
All the DJs will have arrived by 7pm and by 9pm we will all be at Mambo ready to be completely whipped into a frenzy by Bob Sinclar who has been so fantastic this season. The walkway through the place is going to be absolutely rammed and camera flashes will be going off everywhere. There will be obligatory endless shots of sambucca and huge amounts of champagne and cocktails while we all sit in the VIP area and try and line our stomachs with some food between going crazy and dancing!
After a top class dinner in the Pacha restaurant it will be time to dance all night behind the DJ booth and welcome all our special guests who will be coming down; DJs, Ibiza faces, Pacha dancers, celebrities have all made their way into the booth to say hi this Summer and even more will on Saturday. It’s going to be an amazing night…we welcome Shovell, Miss Divine, Bob Sinclar, Simon Dunmore and Rae doing a special Live PA to say goodbye to the best fun you can have on a Saturday night! And what happens after the party? Well, that has to stay behind the Defected villa doors I’m afraid!
Finally, it’s time to say goodbye! I have had so much fun writing these blogs and have loved hearing how much you have enjoyed reading them. I’m so lucky to have had this experience and I hope you get the chance to do some of the things I have talked about at some point too. ANYTHING happens in Ibiza and it really ALWAYS does, so make sure you get out here next year. I for one will definitely be back!
Ciao for now!
