Hola! Well, apologies for the lateness of my latest blog but it’s been a mad few days of parties and I’ve had to get a bit of beauty sleep before the next ones!
It all started with the second Defected In The House party of the season on Saturday. Dennis Ferrer played an absolutely fantastic house-lovers set and of course the room was on fire when ‘Hey Hey’ came on. I really haven’t heard such an amazing reaction to a track in years; it truly deserves to reach the charts this week so go buy it if you haven’t already (or even if you have) and let’s give quality house music some recognition!
Junior Jack & Kid Creme and MC Shurakano kept the place jumping right until the last minute, dropping their trademark last tune ‘God Made Me Funky’ to a still packed dancelfoor. It was a shame it had to end as I was just getting used to my dancing space on the table in the DJ booth! My partner in crime Anna and I drove home and took the wrong turning and ended up ‘lost’. It got me thinking that there are so many things in Ibiza that would be the worst thing to happen at home but that are the absolute best thing here! We ended up driving through the tree covered hills with the sun streaming through the windows with the odd peak of stunning coastline. There’s nothing to worry about as you will always find a signpost eventually and who cares if you’re a little late…Manana Manana Manana!

On Sunday it was time to hit Space and meet up with friends. It was great to be back! Walking through the terrace you feel like you’re on the set of a photoshoot with all the fans blowing your hair up…careful of mini-skirts girls! We head to El Salon where my good friend Bones is hosting his party ‘Black Rabbit’ with his sidekicks; DJ Guy Williams and Kelly Love. There’s a lovely disco vibe – perfect for a Sunday afternoon. After knocking back a couple of Hierbas’ with Guy, it’s off up to the Red Box to check out my friend Ryan O’Gorman’s party – The Burlington Project. The Burlington Project website now attracts thousands of underground clubbers who want to read about the parties to go to that weekend or check out interviews with their favourite DJs/Producers, like Layo & Bushwacka and James Holden.
Ryan has been throwing parties for years and is probably best known for his Cave Raves in Ibiza and the infamous Electric Sex party in 2005 in the middle of no-where in the hills of Ibiza. All the power was off in Ibiza but there managed to be this absolutely mental party going on – believe me, I was there and everyone’s still talking about it! With such a trusted man for throwing good parties, I have no doubts the Red Box will be where it’s at in ‘We Love’ this Summer. Clearly other DJs think so too with the likes of [Freak ‘n’ Chic label boss] Dan Ghenacia and Bea from Dollz at Play hanging out in there. After popping into another packed Cadenza at Pacha with Luciano and friends we went home to catch some winks before going to Ses Salinas Beach the next day.
Now, I keep seeing some crazy sights in Ibiza, not that I’m really that surprised as anything goes here. Last week, I also saw a tuxudo-wearing wakeboarder, a group of gingerbread men, a man dressed as a ballerina waiting in a bus stop at 7am and the most unbelievable sight of all... two oompah loompahs…although there’s a chance they might have just been two girls who don’t know the meaning of subtlety when it comes to fake tan..
That’s enough from me – off to hang out in the VIP whilst watching Ian Brown at Ibiza Rocks! Are you jealous yet?? ;-)
