It wasn’t many weeks ago that we highlighted the recessionary struggle music festivals up and down the UK are facing this summer. Alas, Bloom (August 14-16) is the latest event to succumb to an economic ‘crunch.’
Last week, Bloom’s organisers announced: “There are a number of obstacles that our small team have had to deal with this year – difficult economic conditions have affected us in a big way. Under the circumstances we feel that the best decision… is to draw a line under 2009.”
Bloom’s line-up was set to include DJ Vadim, the Scratch Perverts and Tom Middleton. However, the event is due to return in 2010 and, in the short-term, Bloom ticket holders are eligible for a great value ticket exchange scheme with South Downs gathering Beachdown (Aug 28-31.) This similarly-minded festival promises Grace Jones, Laurent Garnier and Norman Jay; not to mention a Bloom tent!
