Bloomingdale celebrates 10 years of love, sandy beaches and happiness in Amsterdam with a landmark anniversary compilation.
If you were to think of beach parties around the world you would probably not automatically think of Amsterdam. Apart from its obvious hedonistic attractions, just a little further out of the centre, it has a thriving beach party scene that would rival any exotic city.
Blomingdale or Bloemendaal Aan Zee (literally 'by the sea') is a special and well-loved beach clubbing venue based 45 minutes from central Amsterdam. It celebrates its 10th anniversary this year as a pioneering dance music hub in the capital of Holland.
At Defected, we have a longstanding history with the venue, hosting Defected In The House events every summer without fail, and those lucky enough to be in the area on Sunday July 3rd should make every effort to come and witness the talents of Dutch DJs Roul & Doors, Franky Rizardo, 2000 & One and our very own Simon Dunmore.
The venue is famous for the sound of its summery sun-kissed lazy days and pacey club nights, especially their Sunday parties which have become the stuff of legend. The venue has earned itself the reputation of becoming the capitals ‘mini Ibiza’ and is the club of choice for many of Holland’s (and the world’s) biggest DJs.
“Bloomingdale has been at the centre of Dance music in Holland from the very beginning to the present day” says Jasper Roord the founder and owner of Bloomingdale. “Our philosophy has been to always feature the world’s best DJs and to constantly maintain a high quality aimed at a diverse and international audience”.
To commemorate this landmark 10th anniversary the venue is releasing a compilation that showcases their very own summer sound compiled and mixed by rising Dutch DJ and Blomingdale resident Ricky Rivaro.
Both CDs celebrate the diversity of the current electronic scene, from the Balearic, vocal driven sounds of Human Life to the darker deeper grooves of producers Moodymanc and Morgan Geist.
Beachclub Bloomingdale has now grown to become an international music phenomenon is more than ready to continue its characteristic success story for the next decade.
