As lovely as summer most certainly is, it’s also the time of year when even those of us who would never dare to admit it start to consider their beach bodies and, moreover, how to get one before it's too late...

House music has always played a part in the fitness game. Whether as the soundtrack to a formal fitness class or within a more personal playlist for a session at the gym and music is invariably the key to staying motivated whatever your workout demands.

Bodymusic by Defected is our very own take on the workout mix idea. We’re not interested in all the usual fitness music clichés, there are no leotards here for a start. Instead, we’ve devised a way of working with top DJs to get a real fitness workout.

The Bodymusic concept is to create collections of quality music for fitness enthusiasts who love their music as much as their exercise. We’re talking about being inspired and motivated to get fit with some of the very best in house music to help us through hundreds of miles or millions of reps.

‘I Like Exercise, But I Love Music’ is the first release in the Bodymusic series, mixed by Defected DJ, Sam Divine.  Sam is a very familiar face behind the decks at many Defected In The House events around the world, and one to whom staying fit is part of the job.

Sam explains, “My mix features 80 minutes of house music and it is suitable for all aerobic fitness activities.  I always created my own fitness sets for my iPod and the Bodymusic sound is versatile, whether running or in the gym, on cardio equipment or even free weights!  DJing globally, my gym kit is as precious to me as my CDs when I travel. I find the music invigorates me whether it’s a quick run on the beach in Goa or an outdoor fitness class in Ibiza!”

To launch the Bodymusic series, Sam recently provided the warm-up beats for Boutique Run in London’s Battersea Park, a hedonistic, all-girl work-out event that combines the rewards of exercise with the pleasures of your favourite music – something that is a core part of the Bodymusic series.

The first Bodymusic compilation features up to the minute, energetic House music and Disco from some of the world’s best known producers and DJs including Human Life ‘In It Together’, Riva Starr ‘Paradise Garage’, Dennis Ferrer ‘Hey Hey’ and the 2000 and One reworked 4th Measure Men ‘4 You’.

Three mixes provide a Warm Up, a full 60 minute workout and a Warm Down all set to specifically defined workout-friendly BPM rates.
