It may be cold, wet and frankly miserable in Europe, but while the majority of us nurse our apparently indestructible New Year’s Eve hangovers and come to terms with having already broken most of our resolutions, Mexico is having one hell of a party.

BPM, running January 4-13, has grown steadily bigger in recent years, now – in its sixth year – firmly established as a major fixture on the international clubbing calendar. Boasting performances from a host of A-list DJs including Sasha, Carl Craig and Jamie Jones, it’s now inarguably a major fixture in the electronic music calendar.

Sick of the grey skies and plummeting temperatures of early January London, Defected’s Simon Dunmore, Luke Solomon and Andy Daniell decided a dose of winter sun was what was in order, so over the next few days we’ll be documenting their Mexcian adventure through the tried and tested photo diary format.

Here’s are some of things that caught our trio’s eyes on Day 1…

Apparently these two (whoever they are) drank so much wine the air staff were worried there wouldn't be any left for the return flight. To be fair, they don't look all that bothered.

The queue for immigration. Angry Birds anyone?

Unless you take a picture of the sign, it's like you weren't there.

Simon Dunmore, Luke Solomon, Doc Martin and a sign... not sure who Jack is.

Tequila shots, Mexico style: not for the faint of heart.

The gang about to head into the Noir Music Showcase. This is the last we heard from them... maybe they're still there?
