Calvin Harris is to be the new head of A&R for the newly revitalised dance label Deconstruction.

The news was announced by Mike Pickering, the former Hacienda and M-People linchpin who has been charged with heading up the label.

"The deals are better now for signing dance acts' he said, 'because dance acts have everything in place including merchandise and apps, whereas a bands don't, which is what the kids want these days. DJs are becoming the most sought-after and looked-after artists with Sony at the moment."

Axwell is among those to join the label, as are Serge Santiago and Tom Neville.

The announcement was made at this year's International Music Summit in Ibiza.
