Panoramabar regular Cassy will release her debut studio album next year, on Carl Craig’s legendary Planet E imprint.
Currently without name, the long-player is being co-produced by London techno head Kirk Degiorgio at both Degiorgio’s ART Studios and Craig’s Planet E base in Detroit. Degiorgio has already indicated Cassy’s debut will feature a mix of original writing and “surprising” cover versions.
Cassy – real name Catherine Britton - has forged a strong DJ reputation in recent years through her associations with Panoramabar in Berlin and Cocoon. Studio-wise she released her first single in 2002 (with Zombie Nation, on label Zeitgiest) and has gone on to record for Perlon, Cocoon and Souvenir, as well as co-producing Luciano and Mathew Jonson, and developing her own eponymous imprint. Cassy’s style leans heavily towards minimal but there has been no confirmation so far her album will follow that stylistic path.
