Ubiquitous disco-don Nile Rodgers, and his illustrious band Chic, are one of the latest acts to be announced for this year’s 21st Sonar festival in Barcelona.

Taking place June 12-14 at both Fira Montjuic in the city’s Placa d’Espanya square (during the day) and Fira Gran Via (at night), the festival had already confirmed the likes of Richie Hawtin (playing as Plastikman for Sonar’s By Day, and as Hawtin for Sonar By Night) and Four Tet before Christmas.

Sonar’s latest announcement confirms the addition of honorary Daft Punk-er Rodgers, not to mention Boys Noize, Loco Dice, Dam Funk, Neneh Cherry, Audion, Paul Woolford, Ralph Lawson, Todd Terje, Trentemoller, Lykke Li, Royksopp & Robyn, Forest Swords, Kid Koala’s Vinyl Vaudeville, T Williams, Suzanne Kraft and the DESPACIO sound system (AKA LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and 2ManyDJs). There is also a partnership with cult Polish festival Unsound.

Yet further names will be announced by the end of the month – reportedly, a number of Spanish acts, Red Bull Music Academy Affiliates and major special guests.  Grab updates at http://sonar.es
