Established as one of the ‘must visit’ nights on the global club calendar, Yousef’s Circus brings Defected In The House to Liverpool’s East Village Arts Club on Saturday 26th October to join them for the first time at the legendary Circus Hallowe’en Fancy Dress Party.

Ahead of the party – full line-up details of which can be found here – we asked some of the key players from the Circus camp to pick out the records that have come to define the legendary Liverpool event over the last decade.

Jay Organ: street promo, DJ babysitting, office turd handler.

Basement Jaxx - Fly Life Xtra (Original / Eats Everything Remix)
I was actually only seven when the original came out. I've heard so many big names play this in the club and it goes mental every time. What a banger.

Davide Squillace - Cubism
Second track has to be Cubism. It was played at one of the residents parties and it went off just as much as it did when Squillace played it himself. Such a cool tune and reminds me of so many good memories. Viva Italia!

Sean Stephenson: came from handing out flyers to now essentially running the event on match day, a gent.

Tiefschwarz - Damage (BuickProject remix)
This always remind of one of my favourite Circus parties; James Zabiela B2B with Nic Fanciulli and Yos in the theatre (I think!?) and that very memorable after party then went on for ages in The Picket! It was also just a few months before I joined full time so it always remind of fond times.

Claude Von Stroke - Who's Afraid of Detroit (3 Channels remix)
To this day this is still played regularly at Circus (a Lewis Boardman special) and sounds fresh almost five/six years later.

Richard McGinnis: co-founder of Circus, owner of Chibuku, co-booker of Warehouse Project and Global Gathering. Secretly kind.

Xpress 2 - Muzik Xpress (two copies please with Generate Power acapella over the top)
I suppose this staple for Yousef spans from the Cream residency right through Circus history and always – without fail – creates absolute devastation.

Italoboyz feat. Blind Minded - Sti Drumsy
More recently this monster; don’t really need to explain this one.

Yousef: co-founder of Circus, resident DJ and owner of Circus recordings. Likes fun.

Yousef - Way of Life (Loz mix)
I think this was the first record I ever produced. Local Liverpool DJ Loz asked if he could remix it, I wasn't sure at first and wasn't even sure if I liked the remix, I played it out and it destroyed the theatre. 11 years on and it’s still a big record at Circus.

Gary Beck - Hands in Mine
If there was ever a track that sits on the line between house and techno, party and nasty, this is it. Never stopped playing it and it always destroys the theatre too.

Lewis Boardman - resident DJ at Circus since day one, co-promoter, loves an easy life.

Derrick Carter – Where U At?
Reminds me of fly-postering around Liverpool late at night in Richard’s old 206… and how good Derrick Carter is!!!

Lenny Kravitz – Are You Gonna Go My Way
It was my birthday 10 years ago and Erick Morillo's last tune when he first played Circus July 2003. First time I saw the Theatre go crazy with the lights on and DJs crowd surfing.
