The book features a foreword by Honey Dijon, unseen archive photos and anecdotes from the extended Classic family, while the three-part vinyl compilation series showcases the full scope of the label’s lauded sound, from catalogue-defining anthems to contemporary classics.
Both the coffee table book and vinyl boxset will release late October. Pre-order now.
Lauded London label Classic Music Company, founded by Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter, has announced the plans for its 30th anniversary celebrations. A tribute to three decades of pioneering club culture, timeless records and an ever-evolving roster of forward-thinking artists, the label will release a special coffee table book and three-part vinyl boxset.
The label will also host a party on 5th December 2025 to celebrate the landmark anniversary: Sign up now.
Designed just as much for your coffee table as your record shelves, the book is an oral history of three decades of the iconic label, alongside the distinctive sleeve designs and artwork that have secured the label’s place in the mostdiscerning of vinyl collections for the last three decades.
Lovingly put together by David Windmill, one of Classic’s original in-house designers, the book offers an expansive and intimate look at the label’s evolution, featuring an introduction by journalist Claire Hughes, a heartfelt foreword by Honey Dijon and a reflective afterword by Classic co-founder Luke Solomon.
Contributors include the artists that helped form the sound of the imprint, such as Rob Mełło, Justin Harris, Roy Davis Jr, Isoleè, Pepe Bradock, Doc Martin, Tiefschwarz, Brett Johnson, James Curd, Chez Damier, Home & Garden and Radio Slave, while newer members of the Classic family such as Girls Of The Internet, Folamour, Alinka, Floorplan, Sophie Lloyd, Dave + Sam, JT Donaldson and Seven Davis Jr also offer their voice to the anecdotal memoir.
“Classic means family to me - it’s a collective of likeminded sonic travellers that aren’t willing to conform to mainstream thought. A band of misfits at odds with what is conceived as normality.
I’m not one for big celebratory moments but 30 years felt like a significant milestone and there’s always been a desire to capture what we’ve done in picture form - creating this book was an opportunity to do just that. The vinyl series to accompany provides a soundtrack for this trip down memory lane.” – Luke Solomon
Spanning three decades of dancefloor history, community and sonic innovation, the anniversary vinyl series comes in three chapters. Across six records the anthology showcases the past, present and future of Classic Music Company, from foundational deep house and quirky club experiments to modern-day anthems and genre-blurring collaborations.
Each volume comes housed in a raw reverse board sleeve, a nod to Classic’s earliest VA series Seasons, with vibrant and colourful GMUND card stock inner sleeves, beautifully embossed and crafted to celebrate the tactile, physical joy of vinyl collecting.
Born from the friendship between Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter, Classic is considered one of London’s pivotal house labels. Now it’s been Duke Brooks, Classic’s new gen A&R, who has overseen the curation of the 30th anniversary celebrations.
A DJ and burgeoning tastemaker in his own right, Duke has had the pleasure of digging into the archives under Luke’s guidance and mentorship to present this piece of dance music history to his peers, as well as the lifelong fans.
"Classic has been a huge influence on me, it’s shaped my taste in dance music in so many ways. Watching Luke, Honey, and Derrick DJ over the years has been transformative. It’s taught me to take risks and trust in quality music. What began as a tongue-in-cheek name has truly lived up to it, with a catalogue, artists, and artwork that set a standard I hope to carry forward. Classic is most definitely Classic!" – Duke Brooks
The anniversary will also be celebrated with a special three-room takeover of one of London’s most established clubs (to be announced soon) on Friday 5th December.
