Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint will release a one-off compilation album celebrating its 24-hour Day Zero party in Mexico at the end of the year.
Day Zero, featuring Lazarus alongside regular affiliates including Thugfucker, Fur Coat and Amirali, links to ancient Mayan belief that the current ‘World Age’ will end on December 21 – the date of the party – prompting cosmic rebirth. Crosstown’s corresponding album Day Zero Sound Of The Mayan Spirit is released at the start of the month to help build anticipation.
Lazarus has selected 13 specially-recorded tracks for the project. Label signings Fur Coat and Acid Pauli appear as do a number of outside artists such as Mathew Jonson, Jay Haze and Mike Shannon. Day Zero Sound Of The Mayan Spirit is released on December 3.
