Ahead of the release of her upcoming Deep Down & Defected mix album, Sam Divine talks us through some of her favourite cuts from the compilation.

Julien Jabre  ‘Swimming Places’ (Jerome Sydenham Remix)
One of my all time favourite tracks EVER! Since releasing the tracklist for my Deep Down & Defected album a lot of people have commented that they haven’t heard this track in years. I’ve had many a special moment to this track at a Defected party at 5am in Ibiza: perfect with a cold drink in hand and a pair of sunglasses on.

Dennis Ferrer ‘Church Lady’ (Dub)
I hadn’t heard the Dub version before until Simon Dunmore sent this to me recently. I played the original mix in nearly every festival set during the summer, but the Dub version gives a deep, funky twist to the original. I think I love them both equally now.

Mood II Swing ‘Closer’ (Swing II Mood Dub)
If I could sum my sound up in three tracks then this would easily be one of them.   A classic timeless record that never gets old, uplifting with a garage 90’s bumpy bassline with a bad ass vocal arrangement.

Layabouts , Omar  'As Long As You Believe’ (Julian Gomes Remix)
Anything Omar touches is an instant hit in my eyes. He’s voice is so infectious! Instantly fell in love with this track as soon as I heard it, I think I had it on repeat 10 times in a row.

Sonny Fodera ‘Everything You Want’
It was hard to pick a favourite from Sonny’s new album as there were so many tracks on there I loved but in the end I settled on this one. I love Sonny’s style: refreshingly soulful with a deep edge. Absolute banger.

New Jack City ‘Gimme That Chance’
This duo from Amsterdam have been on my watch list for a while. Their productions nail the 90s house revival but they do with a lot of passion and class which makes them stand out for me.
