The original version of this bona fide classic was made available for digital streaming early last year, triumphantly returning to sweep dancefloors and making smiles stretch wider than ever before. A true classic named after the club that first debuted it, Spiller’s creation has earned itself the ‘timeless’ title in more ways than one. Designed by Spiller and the innovative Defected design team, it comes with a vast four-page spread resembling a broadsheet, detailing Spiller’s ‘Story of Groovejet’, from the original production, early reactions, chart success and new 2021/22 remixes. Since it also comes complete with a scannable QR code, for the first time you’ll be invited into the world of Spiller, as an augmented reality app brings the cover artwork to life in 3D once you scan the mask image on your phone.
Lest we forget the best part, Defected are committing the classic to wax. A remix from platinum selling producer Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode features on the first disc, as well as Breakbot and his creator in crime Irfane’s version showing there’s no limit to creativity with a new chunk of funk. Not forgetting the essential vocal mix for the purists. Funk synthesist Harvey Sutherland delivers a fresh perspective with his splendid remix plus a vinyl exclusive remix instrumental, while Italian club don Riva Starr’s remixes ensures there’s a version for every groover.
