As the dust settles on the third instalment of Defected Croatia, the staff at Defected HQ are reflecting on an incredible week that saw more likeminded house lovers flock to the festival and even more people than ever tune in around the world to the very finest selectors that house music has to offer. We are proud to provide live streams in HD of the main events throughout the six days of festival. Which means those at home can be involved as it’s happening, and all the biggest moments are online to relive the action at any time afterwards. Here are some of our staff’s personal picks of the best live-streamed sets that well and truly brought the house down…
MASTERS AT WORK
Making their debut at the festival (together), Kenny Dope & Louie Vega showed up with their A-game to headline the Main Stage on Sunday. Simon was rendered speechless; “No words!” – which pretty much sums it up.
4 TO THE FLOOR HOUSE CLASSICS BOAT PARTY – SIMON DUNMORE & BRIAN TAPPERT
Soulfuric head Brian Tappert flew over from the US to experience Defected Croatia and play a number of incredible sets across the week. Digital Marketing Manager Tom caught the first boat party of the festival, saying “These two legends of house music set the tone for the week, it was rocking!”
CLAPTONE
The masked maestro set the festival off to an unforgettable start, dropping plenty of his vocal chart-toppers to get everyone involved on Day 1. Digital Marketing Assistant Katie was blown away: “What a way to open the festival. Super high-energy and got me pumped for the week”.
BASEMENT JAXX (DJ SET)
With a catalogue of back-to-back hits to draw from, Basement Jaxx did not disappoint with a crowd-pleaser set from the Main Stage on Thursday. A&R Manager Andy was suitably impressed, saluting the set as “Two legends of dance music doing what they do best”.
SAM DIVINE B2B SIMON DUNMORE
Always a family affair, Defected’s main man and woman joined forces to kick the week off with plenty of the latest Defected records. Head of Events Mel didn’t miss a minute; “One thing that always stands out when these two play together is the chemistry. They play with so much respect for each other and are all about reading the crowd.”
FRANKY RIZARDO
This was the highlight for Dave, Content Producer and the man responsible for all live streaming throughout the week. He said, “Franky’s was just the ultimate uplifting house set. One of the best I’ve heard from him”.
SAM DIVINE B2B HATCHA
Managing Director Wez caught the annual garage sessions at the Olive Grove on Saturday. “Having warmed up ahead of the big set, Defected’s favourite couple delivered once again with a feast of garage classics which finished on Dominator & Logan D’s VIP of The Fugees ‘Ready Or Not’ – it was a moment!”
SPEN & KARIZMA
This was the Glitterbox front man’s pick from Day 4. “The second of three sets they did that day, Spen & Karizma had come straight off playing a boat party and people were queuing up at the Main Stage to see them. They were holding nothing back.”
