We are pleased to announce that US dance music pioneer Todd Edwards’ catalogue is available on streaming services and DSPs. After releasing two original singles with us in 2019, ‘You’re Sorry’ and ‘Deeper’, we are proud to now house Edwards’ vast collection of 140+ productions, allowing fans old and new to discover his rich catalogue of productions and remixes, which have been fully remastered for the digital world.

Edwards, who hails from New Jersey but now resides in Los Angeles, is often credited as one of the godfathers of UKG, with few artists able to carve out a sonic aesthetic as distinctive as his own. His signature production style, distinguished by its chopped-up vocal samples and time and pitch shifts, came as a product of necessity due to basic studio equipment that only allowed 30 second sample time, but went on to inspire an entire genre. A major influence on the UK’s burgeoning garage scene in the 1990’s, his work shaped the sound of key artists of the genre like DJ EZ and Matt Jam LamontKnown to fans as Todd ‘The God’ Edwards, his collaborations with Daft Punk on albums Discovery and Random Access Memories earned him a Grammy award, and he has since remixed artists like Phoenix, Justice, Hot Chip, MJ Cole, Oliver Heldens and many more.

Highlights from Edwards’ sparkling catalogue we'll be shining a light on include ‘Saved My Life’, arguably one of Edwards’ best-known records, that has never previously been available on streaming services, as well as ‘Dancing For Heaven’, ‘Can’t You Believe’, ‘Never Ever Far’, ‘Winter Behavior’ and ‘The Dream’. Previously unreleased material will also be given a full release. With much of his music exclusively available on vinyl and CD, the ready availability of these records will allow devotees old and new to get lost in his hugely influential repertoire, while introducing the music to a new generation of fans.

“Finally! It’s been almost a decade since I got back the music catalog that helped define my career. Now it’s ready for re-release, and I am very happy it will all be on Defected Records, the perfect label to share my music with old fans and a new audience.” - Todd Edwards

Other plans for the acquisition include vinyl re-issues, remixes of Edwards’ classics and a Todd Edwards House Masters compilation due to land in the summer. Our repertoire of label and artist catalogues includes Mike Dunn, Blaze, Mr V, DJ Gregory, Classic Music Company, Nu Groove, Slip N Slide, Soulfuric, K4B Records and more. Todd Edwards’ expansive back-catalogue paired with his cult following him make this an exciting addition to the roster.

The Todd Edwards catalogue is now available digitally across all streaming services and DSPs.
