We’re happy to announce that after weeks of delays and anticipation reaching boiling point, our 2013 season at Ibiza Town’s Booom! will commence this Saturday 20th July.
With a successful opening party taking place on Monday we can now say with absolute confidence that Defected In The House will be taking up residence in our new home this weekend, with Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Copyright and Shovell on Percussion.
What is left to be said of Frankie Knuckles and David Morales that hasn’t already? Two giants of house music, between them they have been responsible for genre-defining records the impact of which cannot be overstated. From records like Knuckles’ ‘Tears’ and ‘Your Love’ to Morales’ ‘Needin’ U’ and seminal remixes of Jamiroquai’s ‘Space Cowboy’ and Maria Carey’s ‘Dream Lover’, either solo or as founding members of the legendary Def Mix crew these are two house music heavyweights whose credentials are without compare.
It is an honour for Defected to be playing host to both these icons for our first party at Booom!, and you can expect their sets to be packed full of exemplary house music both new and old.
Supporting Knuckles and Morales on the night will be Copyright. Fast becoming house music legends in their own right, the 20th is their first appearance in Ibiza this season and marks a long-overdue appearance for the UK duo on the White Isle.
Says Copyright’s Sam Holt of the upcoming gig: “We’re itching to get back to Ibiza. Last year was a classic season for Defected, and with a brand new home and delayed opening of Booom! this year has got extra spice!! We've heard a lot about the Pioneer sound system and are very excited to get our hands on it.
“Both of us were hugely inspired by Knuckles and Morales starting our careers, so playing alongside them is a great honour, made even better by the fact they are lovely guys. It’s going to be a party in the booth and on the dance floor in true Defected style this weekend!”
In addition, Defected’s resident Drum Warrior Shovell will be on hand throughout proceedings to add his own unique percussive layer.
