Launching today (Friday 8th March), Udu Radio' the brand-new radio concept from Defected will welcome the following residents to host monthly shows: Kid Fonque, Kitty Amor, Manu Naykene and Jamiie.
Inspired by the musical magic of Africa, ‘Udu’ – which translates as a makeshift instrument played by Igbo women for ceremonial uses, will deliver weekly shows hosted by champions of the Afro-electronic music scene. An added layer to Defected’s expanding offering of African-influenced activity, the show will bring together music that spans the Afro-electronic spectrum including deep house, Afro tech, Afro house and the more melodic sounds.
Hosted by scene tastemakers, alongside radio regulars Kitty Amor and Kid Fonque, the show will introduce to Defected’s audience, content creator and DJ Manu Naykene and Berlin-born selector Jamiie who will be showcasing her rich melodic taste. Special guests set to host one-off shows will be announced in due course.
Presenting a new destination for music-fans to get their fix of rhythms from across the continent, ‘Udu Radio’ will be available to listen to weekly via Soundcloud and YouTube.
