Defected Presents House Masters - Todd Edwards

We are excited to welcome house and UKG legend Todd Edwards into the prestigious list of House Masters with his incredible compilation, charting an influential career that spans over three decades. This 42-track collection features classics from Todd’s repertoire alongside newer hits from the New Jersey native, many of which we have fully remastered since acquiring his catalogue in 2020.

Often credited as one of the founding fathers of UK Garage, Todd’s influence on a scene some 6,000 miles from his home is credit to his truly unique sonic aesthetic. By manipulating chopped-up samples and using vocal clips like instruments within his productions, as well as time and pitch shifts, Todd deliberately created an entirely new sound, thanks to the early studio equipment that he had at his disposal at the time. This his signature sound shaped that of key UKG artists such as DJ EZ and Matt Jam Lamont in the burgeoning garage scene in the 1990s. Coining the nickname Todd ‘The God’ Edwards, he would go on to win Grammy awards for his work with Daft Punk, contributing as a producer and vocalist on albums Discovery and Random Access Memories. He garnered a cult following along the way, with fans highly coveting his discography, much of which remained unavailable digitally until the team here at Defected acquired the catalogue in 2020.

Available on a special double pack vinyl, 2 x CD and digitally for streaming and download, highlights include solo classics like ‘Saved My Life’, ‘Shut The Door’ and ‘The Dream’, as well as shining a light on his collaborations with Daft Punk ‘Face To Face’ and ‘Fragments of Time’. An accomplished remixer, House Masters – Todd Edwards also includes his legendary reworks of St Germain ‘Alabama Blues’, Indo ‘R U Sleeping’ and Sound Of One ‘As I Am’. As well as his classic productions, newer hits like his Defected singles ‘You’re Sorry’ and ‘Deeper’ also feature on the package.
