We are proud to present a very special collaboration from two members of NYC house music royalty. After an initial outing on The Martinez Brothers’ imprint Cuttin’ Headz, 'Let It Go' will be released on Defected Friday 10th July. Drawing inspiration from the city’s rich Latin American dance music scene, and with a firm nod to the trio’s Puerto Rican roots, ‘Let It Go’ is as slick, soulful and groove-filled as expected.
"This very special collaboration with my good friends the Martinez Brothers means a lot to me, and what a pleasure to work with the stellar vocals and lyrics of soul man Marc E. Bassy. This has all the perfect elements of a hot summer jam, and with the Defected Records family at the helm the world will now see how unique this project is and give it the light it deserves.” - Louie Vega
"Working on and releasing records with Louie has been something of a dream to us. This record in particular has been super special. On the flip side, Marc really killed this one and wrote something extremely timeless. The reception around the world has been incredible and it’s with pleasure that our long-time friends at Defected have taken the reins.
This record represents something coming full circle for us...being able to work with some of our biggest influences in Louie and Defected, while bringing things to the future with our brother Marc. Thank you all for the love!" - The Martinez Brothers
The nonchalant yet hypnotic vocal of San Francisco-born singer-songwriter Marc E. Bassy narrates, delivering a catchy hook that underpins the track, with a driving, addictive bassline and Latin-infused instrumental breaks that give the record its undeniable dancefloor appeal.
“House music with a capital H … Close your eyes and suddenly it's summertime in New York City”
– Resident Advisor
“The perfect composite of both Vega and the Martinez Brothers’ style”
“A stunner that will appeal to ears in a range of proficiencies and preferences.”
This new package on Defected will also feature the TMBLV Dub, a gloriously stripped-back addition to the release, allowing the exquisite production to take centre stage. This exceptional release is as innovative and creative as the producers who made it, as two generations of NYC’s vibrant scene join forces to celebrate the sound of a city steeped in house history.
“'Let It Go' has been ubiquitous since it dropped earlier this year. We have seen the reaction first hand at our events. To work again with Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers has lifted the whole company at this time. Marc E. Bassy has delivered an incredible vocal and we are focused on amplifying ‘Let It Go’ to house heads the world over.” - Simon Dunmore
'Let It Go' will be available for streaming and download on Friday, 10th July. Order 12" Vinyl on the D-Store now.
