We are very proud to announce that Defected has won the DJ Mag Best of British award for Best Label 2011.
Last night at London’s East Village, DJ Mag held the awards ceremony for their 3rd annual Best of British awards, and we’re extremely chuffed to say that we were given the nod for Best Label, fending off stiff competition from Numbers, Hot Creations, Anjunabeats and Keysound.
Other notable winners included Maya Jane Coles who picked up the award for Best Producer, Miguel Campbell who won Best Single for his all-conquering ‘Something Special’, and Jamie Jones who capped off a remarkable year by nabbing the Best DJ award.
Gilles Peterson – who will be leaving his long-held position at Radio 1 in the New Year – picked up an Outstanding Contribution award, saying on collection the award that “2011 has been as good for music as it’s ever been”.
There were also DJ sets from East Everything who won the Best Breakthrough Producer award, and Subb-An, who picked up the award for Best Breakthrough DJ.
"It is great to receive the award in this year because it has been an amazing 12 months of music....the best for many years in my opinion" said Simon Dunmore. "To get recognition alongside Jamie Jones, Maya Jane Cole, Gilles Peterson, Annie Mac, Eats Everything & Subb-Ann actually legitimises the fact that we support House music from the underground to the mainstream.
"Any label's reputation is a result of its artists and the music they make. This is for our producers, our staff and those that play, buy and get down to the music we proudly release."
We’d like to take this opportunity to thanks everyone who voted for us in the poll, and to all those who have partied at our events, bought our music and generally supported us over the last 12 months. It’s been an incredible year which we’ve put a lot of hard work into, and for that to be recognised with this award is a fantastic end to the year.
Here’s to an even better 2012!
Fancy coming to party with us this New Year’s Eve?
