Armin Van Buuren has been crowned number one in the annual DJ Mag Top100 DJs poll.
The Dutch trance-meister unseated Frenchman David Guetta, who took over the top slot in last year's poll.
It makes Van Buuren the DJ and producer who has occupied the number one position the most, having won five times.
This year's poll has been the biggest yet, with 600,000 votes cast in all, a fifth of votes coming from the USA, and the rest from territories as widespread as Bhutan and Chad.
“The Top 100 DJs this year was an unprecedented success,” said DJ Mag editor Ben Murphy. “The scale was larger than ever before - with parties in London, Amsterdam and across the US (Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas), the brand has expanded to take into account the growing global appetite for dance music. The DJs who appear in the poll are from all around the world and we wanted to reflect that with the parties.”
Meanwhile, trance fans are pleased that Van Buuren is back on top.
“There's been an overwhelming response from trance fans seeing their DJ hero back on top where, in their eyes, he belongs,” added Murphy.
“Armin has now topped the poll a record five times. Elsewhere though, trance lost out, with many electro house and Dutch hard style DJs entering the poll for the first time and established trancers describing their style as EDM or house.”
