French DJ and producer DJ Mehdi has sadly passed away at the age of 34.
According to reports on several French websites, the Ed Banger star suffered fatal injuries when the roof of his home collapsed. He was supposedly celebrating his birthday with friends on the rooftop when it gave way.
Mehdi (real name Mehdi Favéris-Essadi) had a strong association with Ed Banger Records, and gained notable success in the US with his 2007 single ‘I Am Somebody,’ which also featured Canadian favourites Chromeo, while on the underground scene his remix work gained critical acclaim.
Tributes have poured in via Twitter from friends and fans alike, with Steve Aoki tweeting that he was "devastated," before following that up with a simple message: "Rest in peace to my brother forever here and in the after life [sic] djmehdi. i love u and miss u."
