Eastern Electrics promoters have announced the cancellation of their debut festival originally scheduled for August 4 on London’s Clapham Common. The festival was to form part of Pride House, a series of one-off events organised by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics.

Despite the confirmation of Jamie Jones, Kerri Chandler, Julio Bashmore, Maceo Plex, Joy Orbison, Tensnake and Nina Kraviz to play, reports suggest that Eastern Electrics has lost its home because of Pride House’s failure to nail down further headliners and, crucially, sponsorship.

Electrics organisers commented via social media this week: “We've received the unfortunate news that Pride House will no longer be going ahead and despite selling over 50% of our 17,000 allocation of tickets, Eastern Electrics has found itself homeless. After many years of running some of London's most adventurous warehouse parties in the city's greatest spaces, we are very used to the challenges of finding the best space to showcase the music we love. We now have a range of extremely exciting alternative locations and we will make a decision shortly on which is the strongest site capable of delivering the ultimate festival experience.”

Existing ticket sales will be honoured at the new site; keep tabs with www.easternelectricsfestival.com for the latest line-up and venue updates.
