Pivotal Brit house artist Terry Farley has curated a five-CD compilation album for Harmless entitled Acid Rain: Definitive Original Acid & Deep House 1985-1991.

The album gathers the key Chicago originators of the acid and deep house sounds, including Jungle Wonz, Frankie Knuckles, DJ Pierre, Bam Bam and Larry ‘Mr Fingers’ Heard. There are 61 tracks in total, with Mike Dunn, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Ralphi Rosario, Phuture and Detroit’s legendary Model 500 (AKA Juan Atkins) also contributing.

Acid Rain also comes with a 32-page booklet compiled by London underground DJ Miles Simpson, as well as flyer and photo prints from Farley’s own substantial archives.  Its release coincides with a resurgence of interest in the original Chicago and Detroit sounds via Europe’s contemporary deep house and techno scenes, and current DJs including Jamie Jones and DJ T.

Acid Rain: Definitive Original Acid & Deep House 1985-1991 is released by Harmless Records later this month (date TBC).
