Long-standing UK club brand Gatecrasher is to open a new superclub in Ibiza this summer.

Gatecrasher Ibiza will be based on the site of former San Antonio hangout Eden which was purchased by investor Michael van de Kuit last April, upgraded for last year’s summer season, and is now undergoing further transformation for the coming sunshine months.

The new venture is actually a partnership between de Kuit and Gatecrasher Managing Director Simon Raine.  Gatecrasher Ibiza will take advantage of its venue’s brand new lighting rigs, LED screens, nitrogen fog dispensers and Gold Incubus Void soundystem.  Further specific developments are yet to be confirmed.

According to an initial press release, Gatecrasher Ibiza promises authentic Balearic spirit with a twist of Las Vegas-style theatricality.  In the past, Eden struggled with lower footfall and lower impact residencies than its higher-spec competition elsewhere on the island.  It is hoped that Gatecrasher’s immense brand power can help change the playing field. Certainly, de Kuit has pedigree – in Amsterdam, he successfully reinvigorated the Panama nightclub; recent guests have included Tiesto and Hernan Cattaneo.
