Drum & bass pioneer Goldie – real name Clifford Price – is to release an unmixed, triple-disc compilation album this March celebrating his 20th year in music.
The Alchemist includes one new cut, Single Petal Of A Rose, but otherwise is a summary of his highly influential work to date. Disc one covers Goldie’s early jungle highlights as Rufige Kru (including Menace and Monkey Boy) as well as breakthrough cut Terminator; disc two explores later, wide-ranging outings with vocalists including Lorna Harris and long-term collaborator Diane Charlemagne; and the final disc features Goldie both remixed (Doc Scott, Grooverider) and remixing (Bjork, Ed Sheerhan).
Goldie rose to particular prominence during the Nineties through pivotal albums Timeless and Saturnz Return, collaborations with everyone from David Bowie to KRS-One and the launching of his (still operational) Metalheadz label. In more recent years the artist has balanced DJing and production work with high-profile film and TV appearances.
The Alchemist: The Best Of Goldie 1992-2012 is released by Metalheadz on March 11.
