In recognition of the appalling recent events in Japan, Defected and our artists will be joining forces with our friends at Dutch Uncle and Life for a special fund-raising event on Thursday 24th of March.

The earthquake and subsequent Tsunami that hit Japan has resulted in a death toll of thousands with many more people still unaccounted for. Of those who survived the initial disaster, about 380,000 people are currently still in temporary shelters, many sleeping on the floor of school gymnasiums.

The Japanese people are in desperate need of relief aid, and this event is our way of helping support the cause.

Artists confirmed on the night include The Shapeshifters, Copyright, Simon Dunmore, Rae (incl. PA), Aaron Ross and Cookie (Lola’s Theme PA) with more to be confirmed closer to the event.

All proceeds from the night to be donated to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal, which will include all profits from the restaurant and bar on the night. Everyone entering the venue on the night will be asked to pay a minimum of £5.00 donation to the appeal, payable at the door.

To attend the, please email sophie@defected.com to have your name added to the guestlist for the evening. As usual, the event will be held at Life in East London, and we encourage everyone in the area to come and show their support.

We have also set up our own donation page on Just Giving on which we are encouraging people to give as much as they can afford. All proceeds will again go to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. We will also be setting up an online auction in the next few days, details of which will be on the website soon

We look forward to seeing you in order to do what we can during this grave period in Japan’s history.
