We continue to celebrate the pioneers of house music, this time recognising the work of Heller & Farley by re-issuing some of the best tracks from their genre-defining careers.
The House Masters series has been chronicling the highlights of house music past, present and future for more than half a decade, featuring such names as Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Bob Sinclair, Dennis Ferrer and Osunlade so far. Heller & Farley are the most recent act to be added to the glowing roster, with a House Masters album out this Friday 05 February.
To coincide with the release of this retrospective compilation, this new set of House Masters singles shines a light on the duo’s inimitable impact on the development of house music in the UK. Bringing back the sounds of early years Amnesia, Boys Own parties, The Hacienda, Basics, Cream and Ministry of Sound, this recent batch resurrects cuts that demonstrate Heller & Farley’s musical heritage and their subsequent influence on producers around the world.
Whether under aliases Fire Island (‘White Powder Dreams’), Roach Motel (‘Transatlantic EP’), Product of Da Neighbourhood (‘Living In Brooklyn’) or Heller ‘N’ Farley Project (most famously ‘Ultra Flava’), the pairs’ tracks are rich with the sights and sounds of these clubbing meccas. Both music obsessives, they have remixed some of the biggest bands in the world including New Order and U2 and in turn their originals have been reimagined by some of their peers – the best in the business.
As part of the singles series you will find remixes by Murk, X-Press 2, Danny Tenaglia and Roger Sanchez. It’s only fitting that the cream of the crop pays homage to these House Masters.
