Spain’s fast-rising techno DJ, live performer and producer Henry Saiz has been handed the reigns for Balance Music’s next eponymous mix compilation – number 19 in the series.
Saiz, with a background in film and TV sound design, made his debut as music artist just five years ago. His uniquely emotive, multi-layered take on the conventional techno sound has led to work on labels including Bedrock, Global Underground and Paradigm Musik; a Saiz remix of Guy J’s Lamur in 2009 was subsequently labelled as one of Pete Tong’s Essential New Tunes.
Saiz’ new double-disc mix has the running theme of ‘nostalgia’, using old vinyl and cassettes to create a very basic, retro vibe. Balance 19’s opening CD mixes a number of electronic ideas, whilst the second pushes a more straightforward tech-house agenda.
All of the album’s tracks are as yet unreleased, including several by Saiz (and his alias Hal Incandenza) alongside those via Ricardo Tobar, Esperanza, Spada and Okain.
Balance 19 is released June 10.
