If you're a regular reader of the Defected Ibiza blog, you’ll know I love September with its cooler nights and amazing beach bound days. There's still about a month left of the Ibiza season however, so now is a great time to pencil in the closing parties to attend if you haven't yet done so.
Here is a rundown of the closing events not to be missed…
Even though Carl Cox’s ‘The Revolution Recruits’ closes far from the end of the Ibiza summer season I had to include it as it tends to be one of THE events of the summer. Why? Not only does the Safehouse Management crew work their behinds off to execute such an amazing line up on the night, but rumor has it Carl’s closing parties have boasted Space’s record breaking numbers year after year, for the entire past decade! The day is Tuesday September 18th and the confirmed lineup includes, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Tini, DJ Sneak, Yousef and Jon Rundell.

Following on from Carl’s closing we stay in Space for Enter and Beat and Raw’s closing parties. September 20th sees the much hyped collaboration between Richie Hawtin and Space end with a lineup including Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Magda and Nick Curly, plus a very special 10pm set by Maya Jane Coles in ENTER.Sake (El Salon). Beat and Raw, successor of the live music event Come Together, didn’t get as much love as the club had expected this season, but is bringing in the heavyweights Justice and Cassius for its closing party on the Friday the 21st.
And now we move closer to the finish line… First up Jamie Jones’ ‘Hot Creations Presents Paradise’ Closing Party at DC 10 on September 27th. The artists have still not been announced, but, if we’re to trust Defected’s own Simon Morell, it’s going to be a good one, with a secret villa after party to follow for the chosen few.
We however, won’t be among the after party goers as the following day we’ll be preparing to say goodbye to one of the most amazing seasons in Defected’s history at Pacha! Returning to Pacha for a third time this season with their brand of soulful beats are UK duo Copyright, due to be joined by Junior Jack & Kid Crème – the go to artists for Defected’s ‘hands in the air’ moments this season. Headlining, mais bien sur, Monsieur Bob Sinclar, back to Pacha for set number 5 and topping all this off, the live performance I am most looking forward to; the spectacular Inner City (Mega Yay!!!) and a very special guest (wink, wink!). September 29th really does promise to be THE party to say farewell to Defected’s spectacular summer.

Continuing on, after only one day’s sleep, it will be time for the ‘We Love’ closing party, a Sunday event that has been going for over a decade and is best known as the original Ibiza Sunday Festival. We Love will be hosting the likes of Groove Armada, Paul Woolford, Simian Mobile Disco or James Zabiela, to name just a few!
Now make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids, getting some sleep and eating a healthy meal every now and then as this folks - is far from over! October 1st is all about Cocoon Closing at Amnesia with Sven Vath, Cassy, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Raresh and Onur Özer. It’s going to be a very late one, once again defying local authorities’ club curfews before taking off to an unannounced after event hidden somewhere in the beautiful Ibiza hills.

One week later and we’re almost there with Ushuaia’s closing party on Saturday, October 6th which begins at noon. Luciano, Reboot, Livio & Roby, Michel Cleis, Robert Dietz, Mirko Loko, Digitaline and Maayan Nidam make up a Cadenza heavy lineup so - to be fair - you could get away with skipping this one and concentrating your efforts on the actual Cadenza closing at Pacha the day after (just remove Mirko Loko and Maayan Nidam from the line up, add Andrea Oliva and Lee van Dowski - and you’re there!) But, if you’re a sucker for a daytime rave like yours truly, then this party is definitely for you!
Following on Sunday 7th October is the infamous Space Ibiza Closing Fiesta which begins at 4:30pm and, as mentioned, the Cadenza Closing at Pacha Ibiza from midnight. Traditionally, Space’s Closing Fiesta was event that used to close the Ibiza summer season - up until three years ago when the Lucianomania swept the partygoers off their feet and added some healthy competition to the end of season bang. Pepe Rosello’s crew has announced a very small lineup thus far which includes Radio Slave, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Nina Kraviz, Nick Curly and Guy Gerber, but 7 areas need filling including a massive car park stage so there should be loads more surprises in store should you chose to visit the Playa d’en Bossa for this.

No matter how you feel after you’ve woken up on Monday October 8th (assuming you actually made it to bed), DC 10 will be waiting with the Circoloco closing party to officially finish the Ibiza party season. The lineup is under wraps, but judging by past events it will be unimaginably massive. I’ve written before that DC 10 tends to be the place where industry big dogs have a little frolic and I’m certainly not missing it for the world!
With exactly a month left of the season, I’ll do my best to keep it a memorable one! What about you???
