Leipzig-born techno sage Paul Kalkbrenner has confirmed the release of a new album this June.

Co-released by Rough Trade and Kalbrenner’s own label Paul Kalkbrenner Music, Icke Wider (translation ‘Me Again’) promises a number of retro, vocal-free four-to-the-floor workouts. The album is a response, apparently, to recent fan demand for new music.

Kalbrenner’s last album, on BPitch Control, was the 2008 soundtrack to cult German film Berlin Calling, in which he also famously starred (and earned rave reviews as fictional DJ Ikarus). It followed six studio albums, all on BPitch, including 2001 debut Zeit and 2004’s epic and melodic Self.

Kalkbrenner will promote the June 3 release of Icke Wilder with a series of international tour dates, starting April 15 (Milan) and ending July 15 (Freiburg, Germany). He also plays an exclusive date at Fabric in London on April 28.
