With more competition that ever within the producers’ realm, making a name for yourself in a single genre is impressive enough; to do it in two is a remarkable achievement, but one that Jeremy Duffy has taken in his stride. Earlier this year he released his Duffstep alias’ debut album ‘Getting to Sirius’, but it is in his Duff Disco incarnation that we now present him for the June edition of ‘In Their House’.

Championed by the likes of legendary edit King Greg Wilson to new kids on the scotch block, The Revenge and The 6th Borough Project, he has managed that rare feat, to slide into a market that seemed flooded and make a real impact. Over the course of the next hour or so, we’re confident you’ll see why.

In Their House #08 - Duff Disco by Defected Records

How’s the first half of 2011 been for you?

Ridiculously quick. The Duffstep album was released, had loads of gigs…time has flown by. Seems to be getting quicker and quicker as life goes on though which is a good sign I guess but kinda sucks too. Do you think it gets quicker until you're like 60 odd where it just gets really, really slow?

How and where was the mix recorded?

In my studio - an actual studio, not just my bedroom! You can tell it's real by the smell. As done with Traktor scratch and I tested out my new iPad for some additional effects = super fun.

Are there any particular tunes on there that stand out for you?

This mix is just a bunch of my favourite tunes at the time. I think the bootleg of Nina Simone at the beginning by Hrdvsion is super nice and the Brawther tune 'Do It Yourself' which I've played out a couple times seems to absolutely smash it! Simplicity on a big system just works! Oh and the Grand Master Duff edit I did. That's right, I went there.

Your Duffstep album dropped earlier this year…what’s the reaction been like so far?

Pretty good I think, people seemed to have enjoyed it. But I haven't had any really snide comments about it from 'playa haters' (by the way I never actually use that term in real life) so maybe it isn't big enough yet, ha! It's kinda hard to judge when you release stuff on your own label but I seemed to have got a lot of gigs off the back of it, even though it's proper chilled.

Do you have any immediate plans to release a Duff Disco album?

I've been thinking about it recently for sure, I even randomly dreamt about it last night. In fact I keep having dreams where I'm making really amazing music (so I believe) and I try and remember them when I wake but can't. Freud that. Do you think there will ever be technology to record dreams? Anyway, back to the album… Yeah I think I'll do some more vocal based tracks too for this one.

What’s been the proudest moment of your career to date?

Probably playing to 5000 in Vienna at SoundFrame Festival, but I can't forget the time where I was playing to just one person on the dance floor (who was having a great time may I add) and then I also cut my head on the speaker stand and had blood pouring down my face and then my ex-girlfriend turned up = good times.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about…?

Of course…my bit of shameless self-promotion. My next original release 'Sunshine EP' out around now on Tenth Circle. Check yo! But don't just check it, buy it please, maybe twice and play it outside, in the sun, with an ice cold beer or even a Mojito and good looking people.
