Detroit techno god Juan Atkins re-launches his classic Metroplex imprint at the end of the week. The first release will be by rising star Kimyon, whose single Platform View earns itself a limited vinyl run on Friday before full digital release November 11.

Metroplex is synonymous with records by Atkins’ world famous alias Model 500, as well as cuts from Kreem and Eddie ‘Flashin’’ Fowlkes. The label wound down seven years ago for an extended break; Atkins decided to re-instate it this year after hearing new music that he felt worthy of release.

Beyond Kimyon’s opening gambit, Atkins is planning a new Model 500 album for early 2012 and the launch of Metroplex’s entire back catalogue online.
