Institutional East London club Plastic People is under threat from forced closure by the Metropolitan police.

The reasons for the closure have been cited as Prevention of Public Nuisance and Prevention of Crime Disorder and the club has until March 12th to appeal.

Boasting arguably the best sound system in Shoreditch and an unpretentious crowd, their no-frills clubbing formula has won them a legion of devotees and provides a welcome contrast with many of the overly slick ditchland bars.

Musically, it is one of the most musically diverse venues in town, regularly serving up jazz, funk, house, latin, electro, afro beats, hip-hop and drum & bass and the standards are consistently high.
