Le Carousel, the rapidly-rising punk-funk live band project from Belfast DJ-producer Phil Kieran, will release its first studio album this March.

Kieran, synonymous with Bugged Out! and, studio-wise, punchy techno cuts on Soma, Electric Deluxe and Cocoon, has been developing Le Carousel for a couple of years now.  Fans include Carl Craig and Andrew Weatherall.

Le Carousel’s eponymous, eagerly awaited 12-track debut will be accompanied by the release of single Carousel, featuring remixes by David Holmes and Weatherall.  The album launches over two nights – March 8-9 – at Belfast’s new creative arts venue the MAC, coinciding with a major exhibition of contemporary artist Andy Warhol.  The two events will feature a full four-piece band – Le Carousel’s first official performances – and blown-up displays of the band’s album artwork, to be cut-up and re-used on later releases.

“I decided to really make the best thing I’ve ever made, and maybe will ever make” Kieran explains.  The new album will be released on March 11, via Kieran’s PKR imprint.  The band has just been confirmed to play IMS’s huge Grand Finale event in Dalt Villa, Ibiza this May alongside Sven Vath and Tensnake.
