The Highlights: Defected Ibiza Opening Party

Kicking off 21 weeks of Defected Sundays, the party started at Ibiza's iconic Café Mambo where pre-parties will be held every week throughout the summer. This week, the decks were graced with the likes of Simon Dunmore and none other than the first lady herself Sam Divine. Following a rocking pre-party, the party continued on home turf at San Antonio's Eden with Simon and Sam alongside Amine Edge & Dance, DJ Haus, Jacky, Lowsteppa and Mambo Brothers topping off a jam-packed line-up.

Legendary remixer Greg Wilson curates his Credit To The Edit – Vol. 3

Dennis Ferrer and Skream present Local Heroes 

House music legend Dennis Ferrer has teamed up with Skream in their Local Heroes project which will see the duo travelling cities starting in the UK then around the world to play alongside local talent to support artists seeking recognition.

Their debut single 'Old Yella' dropped earlier this month on Objektivity.

Last Friday, the duo went back to back in their Local Heroes Boiler Room set - check it out.

The duo are set to appear at Schimanksi in New York on April 28th and The Arch in Brighton on May 19th.

Ferreck Dawn and Robosonic's 'In Arms' - OUT NOW

Dutch producer Ferreck Dawn and German mainstay Robosonic go head to head on their dancefloor smash ‘In Arms’. A firm favourite with Low Steppa, Sam Divine, Franky Rizardo and the whole crew of residents when it was road-tested during the Defected Australia tour in early 2018, the thumping, bass-focussed track received a huge reaction from crowds with its tightly-harmonised earworm vocal. Certifying its place as a standout summer record, ‘In Arms’ has all the makings of a future Defected hit.

Sophie Lloyd produced ‘Calling Out’ in a dreary January as an antidote to the pervading doom and gloom of the news, summoning the power of the most joy-filled sound of all, gospel. The track radiates all the live atmosphere of gospel worship in mid flow, with soul trio Dames Brown bringing the authenticity. Following a 7” release which sold through continuously due to huge demand, this video follows Sophie and the Dames as the group embarked on their first ever European tour, spreading their unbridled energy and vocal power, supported by Sophie’s production that glows with uplifting warmth. 'Never Talk To Aliens' - out now

Jesse Perez and DJ Mind-X go head to head on a new deep house rendition of the 1998 trance track ‘Never Talk To Aliens’. Producer DJ Mind-X formerly released the record under Energetic Records, a trance specialist label based in Switzerland. This fresh version sees the tempo slowed down, still preserving the track’s 90s trance qualities with its sultry looped spoken vocals and hypnotic melody. Miami house producer Jesse Perez works his magic on the track with a bouncy body-jerking beat typical of his signature bass-heavy sound. Continuing the Road To Croatia, Defected returns to Arts Club on Sunday 6th May for its first party in five years, bringing a massive bank holiday showdown.

Upcoming release: Dimitri From Paris Presents Le Chic Remix

Dimitri From Paris will be releasing a 10-track album covering reworks of much-loved classics including three unreleased tracks alongwith never before heard instrumentals of each.

Entrusted with the original studio masters from the late 70s/ early 80s, most of the songs are given a respectful new mix and arrangement, unveiling never-before-heard performances, turning the spotlight on the beautiful orchestrations of one the most unique and highly-revered production duos of the Disco era and beyond; Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards, along with their CHIC organization of musicians.

The compilation will be released under Glitterbox Recordings on vinyl, CD, download and streaming formats on 8th June.
