LOCKDOWN LINKUP: DENNIS FERRER & DISCIPLES RELEASE 'WHISPER' ON DEFECTED
08.01.2021
We're very happy to announce the upcoming release from Dennis Ferrer & Disciples featuring James Yuill, 'Whisper', releasing via Defected on 22nd January.
When Radio 1’s Danny Howard brought his Lockdown Linkup series to the world in 2020, he set about teaming up the world’s leading dance producers for a collection of very special collaborations. Among those set up by the series was long-time friend of Defected Dennis Ferrer and South London trio Disciples, making for a powerful but perhaps unexpected transatlantic partnership. During a time of musical experimentation the artists created 'Whisper' with the help from acclaimed songwriter James Yuill. With its ethereal vocal, atmospheric keys and memorable guitar strings, married together by a club-friendly bassline, it stood out to our very own Mr. Dunmore, who is giving the track a full release on Defected.
“I’m normally not big on collabs, but the stars were somehow aligned for this one. I think that between the three of us, James, Disciples and myself, we managed to create a ‘happy marriage’ with ‘Whisper’ so go ahead and dance to it, like no one is watching. In your living room.” - Dennis Ferrer
''In life you never think you’ll get the chance to work with someone who’s inspired you but this is one of those rare moments where we can say we have. Dennis Ferrer is a huge inspiration of ours and the fact that this tune bangs is an added bonus. Dennis sent us a cool idea to build on, and the whole process was easy because the vibe was already in line with what we are about, nice drums and rolling bass lines. Big up to Danny Howard for setting this one up.'' - Disciples
Teasing the record at the end of last year, Dennis Ferrer and Disciples both graced our We Dance As One series, giving the track its live debut in both DJ sets from one side of the world to another. 'Whisper' has also been supported and shown love by more Defected friends including Sam Divine, Roger Sanchez, John Summit and Monki, as well as Radio 1 plays from Annie Mac, Pete Tong and of course the main man behind 'Lockdown Linkups', Danny Howard.
